Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice to add extra richness. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto the unbuttered side of each slice.
- Place the thinly sliced cucumbers evenly over the cream cheese on half of the bread slices. For extra flavor, you can lightly salt the cucumber slices before placing them on the bread.
- Top the cucumber-covered slices with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down. Press gently to adhere.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully trim the crusts off the sandwiches for a clean, elegant look. Cut each sandwich into quarters or smaller triangles for dainty tea sandwiches. Arrange them on a platter and serve immediately.
Notes
Choose soft bread like white or whole wheat for best results. Assemble sandwiches just before serving to prevent sogginess. Pat cucumber slices dry before placing them on the bread. Add fresh herbs like mint or chives for extra flavor.
